Life of Pi

The better story. That's the answer to every argument about what's true.

Richard Parker walked into the jungle without looking back. Farewells are for the ones left behind.

He practiced three religions at once and the priests all objected to each other, not to him.

The ocean reads like a hotel with terrible service and infinite rooms.

The flying fish chapter, survival turns atheists into butchers and butchers into grateful ones.

The carnivorous island that digests at night. Even paradise has a menu.

Pi's training of Richard Parker was actually training of his own fear. The tiger was HR.

And so it goes with God. Last line, after both stories, after silence.

The zebra, the hyena, the orangutan, the lifeboat held a whole zoo of coping mechanisms.

Carried out of it: you get to choose your story. Choose one you can live inside.
